Will People Get Affordable Health Insurance Through the Government?
Health insurance in this country is changing. No one knows for sure just what the new affordable health insurance plans offered from the government will be. There are however some very common misconceptions that have been circulating of late. There have been rumors for everything from seniors being euthanized to the government having say over abortions and the entire system being socialized medicine. All of these rumors are simply untrue however.
Something people are very concerned over are the so called 'death panels'. These do not and will not ever exist. The words come from Governor Palin who as always does her best to stop whatever progress the Democratic Party tries to make. What she was referring to was in reality a plan to set up end of life care programs. These programs would help people to choose how they would be cared for in their final years. These programs would be available in government affordable health insurance plans that will be offered someday. Also, these programs will be entirely optional. Calling these programs 'death panels' has been called by many to be fear mongering. The purpose of which to spread doubt in government offered affordable health insurance plans.
Another issue around government offered affordable health insurance is whether or not it should cover abortions. There are people on both sides of the issue and nothing has been decided yet. Some people say that they do not want their tax dollars going towards the murder of fetuses. Other people say that it is unfair for the government to decide what a woman can or cannot do with her own body. This issue has been going on since abortions were made available. The only difference now is that affordable health insurance has been thrown in the middle of it all.
Another false rumor around government issued Affordable health Insurance is that it is all just some plan to socialize medicine. This too is an absurd notion. That would not only be a massive overhaul of every medical practice in the country but also mean a huge job loss when all of the insurance companies were suddenly made obsolete. This will not be what is happening with this bill. What will be happening is a more regulated system. People will not just be getting affordable health insurance, they will also be getting safer and better ran hospitals if this bill is passed. What the government wants to do is to merely regulate the health system just as much as they already regulate the airlines and food industries.
